The wzi Family [Function: Biogenesis/Secretion] Seed alignment | Full alignment in OMPdb

This family consists of homologs to the wzi protein of E.coli. Wzi was found to be involved in the surface assembly of the Escherichia coli K30 group 1 capsule, participating in the translocation of group 1 capsular polysaccharide in co-operation with the wza complex. Wzi is an outer membrane monomeric 18-stranded ß-barrel protein. Homologs are also found in genera Klebsiella pneumoniae, Acinetobacter, Psychrobacter, Shewanella oneidensis, Rhodobacter sphaeroides, Idiomarina loihiensis and Microbulbifer degradans.
