The Leptospira Porin OmpL1 (LP-OmpL1) Family [Function: Non-specific channels] Seed alignment | Full alignment in OMPdb
This family consists of proteins found in spirochetes of the genus Leptospira. OmpL1, is a heat modifiable porin that can form trimeric structures. OmpL1 has been reconstituted in planar lipid bilayers where an average single channel conductance similar to those of the major porin activity of native leptospiral membranes, was demonstrated. OmpL1 is expressed during infection and, therefore, has a role in the induction and persistence of leptospiral interstitial nephritis.
