PgaA controls the translocation of de-N-acetylated poly-b-1,6-N-acetyl-d-glucosamine (dPNAG) polymer into the bacterial outer membrane. dPNAG is crucial for biofilm adhesion and has an important role in the maintenance and development of biofilms integration for various bacterial species. PgaA beta barrel domain (513-807) consists of 16 antiparallel transmembrane beta sheets with b1 and b16 strands interlocking.
